NEWS FLASH!!!!
I have always enjoyed listening to the news. TV News. Newspaper. Internet. Radio. I have tired this year though of bad news. Robbery, Economy, Fire, Accident, Unemployment, ….
So what a relief it is to have Good News. Jesus came to earth to save us from the bad news. God never wanted it this way but we wanted to be God. Yet, He had a plan to make sure that we will be taken away from the bad news forever. What a relief that I get His Good News every day so that I can enjoy this creation of His.
For unto you is born this day in the city of David, a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. Luke 2
Anthony Leaves St. Luke's
After eleven years, Anthony was finally able to leave the St. Luke’s campus. Preschool through eighth grade was enough, I guess. After the class trip to Washington D.C in April, confirmation in May and Graduation in June, he has moved on to high school. The chin has healed well after 12 stitches from a fall in January (as well as one busted tooth and two more cracked). Getting his drivers permit was his good news in November.
Natalie Enters Sr Year
After two different high schools, Natalie is finally finishing her senior year at Winter Springs. She is in her fourth year of playing varsity basketball with the team playing very well.
Her good news includes National Honor Society again, singing in choir, prom, her 17th birthday, youth trip to West Virginia, Youth Leadership team, Homecoming and her acceptance to Concordia Nebraska. (See you next year cousins!)
Jacob’s year of the ‘M’
Mathematics is the new major for Jake in his junior year at the University of Florida. Metters was his summer internship program where he learned to program controls and write smartphone apps. Mentoring incoming high school freshman with Mallory for a weekend retreat was a riot. Movie viewing outdoors was another highlight as he hosted the producers/writers/actors from the movie “Beware of Christians.” Mallory is the one he spends mega-time talking/texting with, even though she is usually in Mississippi.
Family Events make for Fun
Becky has returned to fifth grade after a year in fourth. Steve is still Director of Technology/Curriculum/Instruction. We were glad to have both sets of grandparents around a couple times this year for vacations and Anthony’s confirmation. Having Mark and Connie, Marty and Tina, Renee and John & Micah, Dwight and Christy visit was also terrific. Amber and Pierre’s wedding on the beach in June was fantastic. Plenty of beach time happened this year. Trips to Blue Springs and the New Smyrna lighthouse were a blast. Having all three of our children participate together in the youth Worship on the Beach event was fabulous.
We also enjoyed a trip to Sanibel Island quickly before school started in August. We made pretty good use of our year passes to Sea World. It only took six months to completely gut and remodel the kids bathroom but the tub and tile turned out great. (It was functional all but a couple days!)
We were also lucky enough to attend several Magic basketball games, University of Florida and Central Florida football games. Blessed is the best word to describe having Wally & Lois & Matthew (and the rest) around as well as Uncle Ozzie and Aunt Katherine.
