Wow. What a year! We started to think about our letter and thought we had a quiet year. Then we realized that quite a few things had happened this year.
6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
The year always starts with Becky’s birthday and basketball. Becky is still coaching JV girls at St. Luke’s and Natalie had a great year at Orlando Lutheran Academy. She was named to the 1st team all-district and scored 27 points in their playoff game. We enjoy nights to see the Orlando Magic each year too.
February was a month for visiting. Mom & Dad Lehenbauer spent a couple weeks here with a stay at the Lutheran Haven. Visits from our friends Jon & Julie Rusnak (& Luke) and Linda Hoffman made for a fun time.
March and April saw all five of us travel to La Paz Honduras. Jacob went with a group of college students and then the rest of us traveled over spring break to the Children of Love Foundation. Our visits there are a constant reminder that God is working around the world and helps us refocus our thoughts on what is truly important.
Anthony and I were able to get to a spring training game in Tampa at the Yankees new park. May is Seacamp month and Jacob’s birthday month. Anthony was busy with both track and flag football. Natalie played in an Orlando area basketball league and also got the highest OLA score ever on the American Math Competition test.
June started with Natalie’s birthday and quickly followed with the end of school. The next weekend we were headed to Iowa to help celebrate 25 years of ministry at Risen Christ in Davenport. Jake was able to travel with us before he began his summer working at wiring intercom and networks again.
After returning home from Iowa, we celebrated our 25th anniversary with a trip to St. John, Virgin Islands. Becky and I spent a week of snorkeling in an absolutely beautiful place. It will be a location we return to again!
We were sorry to miss all the Hoffmeyer relatives at the reunion in Indiana.
We had summer visits from Christy, Ashton, Amber and then from Cyndee. Visitors are always a good reason to visit St. Augustine or Bahia Honda in the Keys!
We were also blessed by having about 100 youth here for one stop of the youth progressive dinner. Natalie had a great time in New Orleans at the National Youth Gathering.
The start of school brought change. Orlando Lutheran had to close their doors after 35 years so Natalie is now attending Winter Springs High School. She has a good group of friends and made the varsity basketball team. Becky made a move from 5th to 4th grade this year due to a slightly smaller enrollment. Jacob returned to the University of Florida for his 2nd year of Computer Science and living off campus. Anthony started his final year at St. Luke’s and I have added some Curriculum and Instruction tasks to my duties.
Anthony had a great fall soccer season that ended up with a 3rd place finish at state. Mom & Dad Arp were able to travel here in October. We visited our favorite springs and pancake place. Jacob was able to take in plenty of great football in the SEC this year with a couple trips to Mississippi to visit his girlfriend Mallory.
November 1st is the day for Anthony to celebrate his birthday so it always starts well. It ended with a terrific trip to Little Torch Key where 16 of us (4 Lehenbauer brothers and families) enjoyed a week of swimming, snorkeling, fishing, kayaking and playing games.
As December rolls around and we prepare again for the Savior, we are awed at how He continues to care for us. Life does bring struggles and we have known those this year but His peace helps us through. The world is not a perfect place but we are thankful that the Lord sent His Son so that we may be made perfect in Him.
We pray that you are celebrating God’s love in your lives again this Christmas.
Have a very Merry Christmas and a great new year in Christ!
