Operational Codes

Code 1

Schools will operate on a two-hour delay schedule and all teachers and instructional support staff may follow the delay schedule. All 12-month employees will report on their regular schedules.

Code 2

Schools will operate for remote learning only. 12-month staff will be expected to report to work or take appropriate leave. Meals will either be provided in advance or pickup will be available from 11am to 1pm. Teachers will be expected to provide office hours of at least 4 hours between 8am and 4pm and will ensure students are aware of the office hours in advance. Other staff may be required to report to work as needed by administration.

Code 3

All school buildings and sites will be closed to the students and the public. Only 12-month employees are required to report to work. Due to the various geographical and regionalized impact of weather on the county’s roads, all employees are encouraged to consider safety as the highest priority when making a determination to go to work or take leave. If an employee cannot safely arrive to work by 10:00 a.m., appropriate leave must be taken.

Code 4

Division shutdown and only essential personnel will report to work. Principals are responsible for making sure that their buildings are checked as soon as possible. At the Division level, essential personnel are designated as the division superintendent, the staff member in charge of operations, and/or the staff member in charge of transportation. The superintendent may assign essential personnel, as needed, at both the Division and school level. At the school level, the principal and head custodian are designated as essential personnel. In the event that site preparation will be required for school events or school the next day, then all Division operations (i.e., 12-month maintenance and transportation) staff and school custodial staff may be considered essential personnel.

Early Closings

If a decision is made to close schools early, all teachers and instructional support staff may leave after students depart, unless the building administrator requests that the staff stay longer to assist with any students. Building administrators and designated essential personnel are to remain at school until all students have arrived safely at home. Non-school based personnel are to remain at their work site for the normal working day unless specific instructions are provided from the superintendent or designee concerning early dismissal time.
