2023 LCPS Spelling Bee

Congratulations to all participants in the 2023 Spelling Bee! This year’s bee consisted of 25 rounds and the championship word was bovines.

Congratulations to the following students that participated in the District VII All-District Chorus event on February 10-11 at the SWVA Higher Education Center in Abingdon. In addition, Liz Taylor (LHS- Soprano II) and Samantha Cavin (TWHS- Alto I) were selected to participate in the All-Virginia Choir which will be held April in Richmond, VA.

2nd Place- Leigh Cavin (Agribusiness), Chloe Marcum (Computer Applications), JD Odle (Computer Problem Solving), Savannah Smith (Job Interview), Taylor Epperly (Intro to Business Communication)

3rd Place- Jackson Long (Business Communications), Lydia Shepard (Intro to FBLA)

1st and 2nd Place Winners will be eligible to compete in the VA Sate FBLA Conference in Reston, VA March 31-April 1.

Secure Solar Features - Throwing Solar Shade Project

Eight LCPS students have been working with Secure Solar Features this semester on the Throwing Solar Shade Project. These students have researched the Effect of Placement Surface on Panel Temperature. The students presented their research on Tuesday, December 6 at the Science Museum of Virginia in Richmond, VA. We would like to congratulate the following on all their hard work this semester:
