As our students explore the book "Hatchet" in ELA, science will focus on the real life situation of surviving with limited resources. Students will complete two performance tasks using their science IQ's to attain food and clean drinking water.
Performance Task 1:
Students will use their knowledge of the water cycle to create clean drinking water from salt water.
Performance Task 2:
Students will use their knowledge of heat transfer to design a device to cook using only the power of the sun.
Learning Targets:
Students will be able to identify the processes in the water cycle.
Students will be able to differientiate between the three types of heat transfer.
Students will be able to create a model to demonstrate the different types of heat transfer.
The "Do Now" or bell-ringer in science is used for daily spiral review, clearing misconceptions, and directing students focus back towards the learning target
The purpose of the digital workbook is to guide students through the IDL while also providing a central place to store their artifacts.
