Why are we doing this?
Graduating students need to show that they can articulate their proposed plan for life after high school. This includes:
future goals (both short and long term)
possibly planning for further education to achieve some sort of credential (anything from a specialized driving license to a university degree)
future employment (both short and long term)
costs related to the plan(s).
Possible inclusions: Post-Secondary research, acceptance letters, educational program info, work readiness documents (ie: First Aid, SuperHost, etc.)
What do I need to do now?
Go to GC to access the Future Path task and budget spreadsheet. You must research a realistic budget for your post-secondary plan. The more realistic the budget, the more prepared you will be for life after graduation so research the numbers carefully.
INSTRUCTIONS - PLEASE READ
1. Do not edit the "FULL YEAR SUMMARY" tab. It will calculate automatically
2. Choose ONE tab to edit (Go to School, Work, Travel/Gap Year) based on your current plans for next year. (If you use more than one tab, the calculations will be messed up)
3. Make sure you READ the INSTRUCTIONS that are listed on the tab that you choose
4. If you choose the GO TO SCHOOL or TRAVEL/GAP YEAR options, there is a place to input income if you also plan to work.
FINAL STEPS
1. Attach a copy of the budget to your Capstone G-Site
2. Include a description of your plan for next year, along with a description of your back-up plan. (can be in paragraph or point form)
How does this relate to my Capstone Presentation?
You need to be able to show your panel members that you have plans/goals (both short and long term) and you have researched how to accomplish them. You need to be prepared to answer their questions about your plans.
