The start of the 2025-2026 school year will mark the beginning of my thirteenth year working full time as an instructional assistant in the Q.U.E.S.T. program for Leander I.S.D.

Although I was born in Arizona, I primarily grew up in New England, and graduated from Lexington High School in Massachusetts.

After high school, I attended Framingham State University where I met my cherished future husband, Darnell.  We have been married now for 29 years and counting. Deciding to transfer, I relocated to California and attended California State University, Dominguez Hills where I graduated with a degree in Sociology and a minor in Communications. At the same university, I earned a multiple subject teaching credential. I then began my teaching career in California where I taught at the elementary level a 2/3 combination class, 3rd grade, and 4th grade. I also explored being a substitute teacher.

My desire is to continue sharing my skills, gifts, and talents as much as possible in order to be a support to those I interact with each day. Exploring the wonders of our world with the students I get to spend time with is something I am thankful for in my current role as I loved doing this as a child, and with our daughter, Lacie.

In the photographs provided I am watching a brand new polyphemus moth prepare for take off during the spring of 2024. Lacie found it when she returned home for her winter break from Texas A & M. I decided to care for it in a container in hopes of watching it hatch just as we would do while she was growing up.

Interesting fact, Lacie is a Ridge Ridge Rattler! She also was a student in the Q.U.E.S.T. program. The learning opportunities she gained were foundational to where she is today. This year she is a senior studying Biological and Agricultural Engineering, and has successfully completed a study abroad opportunity and two summer internships prior to her senior year.

So you can see how time passes so quickly, and how fortunate I am to have raised a child and to have gained the knowledge of the depth of love that goes into supporting their lives. It delights me to be a support to your daughter or son as they aspire towards their dreams.

Inspiration to me, is the key to thriving where we each are planted. This is something I wish to continue to share with the students I serve.🌻Â
