How does QUEST Serve Kindergarten Students?
During first semester, QUEST teachers provide enrichment opportunities for all kindergarten students. Prior to screening, the elementary G/T-QUEST team provides a minimum of four enrichment lessons to every kindergarten class. These foundational lessons provide common creative and critical thinking experiences. These lessons prepare the students for the type of thinking that will be testedin early winter and assist in our understanding of each learner prior to screening. The QUEST teacher is also provides additional support and enrichment for kindergarten teachers and students.
All kindergarten students are automatically screened for the QUEST gifted and talented program in December and January. Identified kindergarten gifted students begin receiving services March 1 as required by the state of Texas. However, the screening process is on-going, and we will continue to gather information about your student's intellectual and creative thinking abilities throughout the kindergarten year.
