What is "QUEST"?
“QUEST” is an acronym for Quality Utilization and Enrichment of Student Talents.
Leander ISD’s QUEST Program is designed to meet the needs of identified gifted students who have demonstrated above-average ability in the following two areas of giftedness as defined by the Texas State Plan for the Gifted: 1) high general-intellectual ability at the 95th percentile; and, 2) creative and productive thinking.
In grades 6 – 8, QUEST students participate in a daily academic elective QUEST Studies course. Students take this course instead of the Math/ELA Extension class option. The QUEST curriculum is designed to provide challenging learning opportunities for identified QUEST students. QUEST students receive advanced instruction in an interdisciplinary gifted curriculum, utilizing Pre-AP teaching strategies.
How do I get into QUEST?
Screening and assessment for referred grades 6–12 students is offered once in the winter and once in the spring. Referrals must be received by the deadline set by the district, which will be at least two weeks prior to the start date of the winter or spring screening and assessment window. Note: students may only be tested for GT services once per year. Secondary GT Referral Form (grades 6-12) – Complete by Tuesday, October 1, 2024 to be included in the Winter screening process. Parents of students who qualify for additional testing will be notified for consent for additional testing. Students will be assessed in October/November. Notification of results will be sent before the end of the second semester.
Secondary Winter QUEST Referral Form - Requests to be completed by Oct. 1, 2024 deadline.
What if I have been tested at my previous school?
New to district students previously identified as Gifted & Talented in the prior district will have records reviewed upon enrollment. The campus will request records from the prior district and records will be reviewed to determine placement for the student or determine if further testing is needed. Parents will be notified of results from the records review.
More information about QUEST is on the district QUEST website.
