Please note - Phone calls to the office or an email to the teacher does NOT excuse your student's absence.
LISD requires that all student absences regardless of the reason be verified in writing with either a parent note/email, a medical note or other state approved document within 2 days after the student returns to school from the absence.
You can email HMSAttendance@leanderisd.org or have your student bring an absent note to the attendance office. ** Only an email from the parent/guardian email address we have on file will be accepted. **
Late notes will be accepted for a student's file, but attendance coding may not change.
Leander ISD requires written verification within 48 hours of the student’s return to school in order to update the absence.
Please submit a parent note or email, a medical note or other state approved document for any and all absences.
All notes require the following information:
**Medical notes can take the place of the parent note, but must be on company letterhead and clearly state the date the student was seen and the date the student can return to school.
**Medical notes that state the student can return "when fever free" will not be accepted to cover all absences; only the date(s) listed will be excused.
**Medical notes that are altered by a parent will not be accepted.
Please allow at least 48 hours to be posted and updated to your student's HAC account.
Please refer to the LISD Student and Parent Handbook for the Attendance Policy on the following links for further information:

If so, and you feel this is an error, please contact that teacher directly. Due to TEA guidelines, the attendance office is unable to correct attendance until we have received a correction request via email from the teacher of record or an administrator.
If the attendance in question involves a substitute teacher, please include a brief description of what was done in class so the teacher can verify if the student was in attendance.
Tardy vs. Absent: If a student is more than ten (10) minutes late to class, the student will receive an absence for that class period.
