What happens if the laptop is damaged?
The fee that students pay when they receive their laptops includes coverage for accidental damage or manufacture defect. The student should bring their laptop to Falcon Force in the library before school 8:15 - 8:45 or during FLIGHT time, to report any damage. In most cases, repairs will be conducted on-site with minimal disruption to the student. On occasion the laptop is sent off for repair and a "loaner" laptop is issued to the student until theirs is returned. If the laptop needs to be replaced due to accidental damage or manufacturing defect, there will be no charge to the student. If a device is broken three times or more or if the damage is due to intentionally destructive behavior, a fee will be charged for the repair or replacement of the devices.
What happens if the device is lost?
The first 48 hours please do the following:
Retrace all steps using the "Lost computer checklist" - (this form is available in the front office, from an AP, from Mrs. Stone or Mrs. Mannas)
Check all classes, ask all teachers, check in the front office.
Check on the bus, in all cars that you may have traveled in, thoroughly check your home.
Thoroughly check your lockers.
If the device still is not located then report it to Mr. Matsuda (Campus Technologist, Rm 1101).
Tech will attempt to locate last connection location within the building and possibly last location of the device.
Tech will notify student's AP.
Once laptop is deemed truly lost then laptop will be marked lost in Destiny and a notation will be made to the student's Destiny record. A fine of 1/2 of the laptop's value will be assessed for the first loss. The second loss will incur a fine for the full value of the laptop.
Upon payment of the fine, a replacement laptop will be issued.
What happens if the device is stolen?
Student's parents should contact FPMS Campus Technologist (ron.matsuda@leanderisd.org) immediately.
Tech will attempt to locate laptop via tracking software.
Tech will notify student's AP. If theft occurred on LISD property then an incident report also needs to be filed.
Once it is determined that the device was stolen then a Police Report should be filed and the MLISD missing form is filled out. LISD Risk Management is also involved.
After paperwork has been processed the student will be issued another laptop.
