Create a substitute teacher folder or binder early in the year!
Be sure to include:
- teachers to ask questions that arise along with room # and extension
- class list
- seating chart
- attendance procedure
- class schedule
- general plan for the day
- Include the names and numbers of teachers' aides, SPED Co-teachers, helpful teachers,
- office procedures
- classroom rules and policies (reminder to refer to classroom contract created by students)
- list students you can count on to help out
- fire/tornado/lockdown procedures
- extra activities for fill time if necessary
- directions to where supplies and plans are located
- map of the school (highlight PE, Art, Music, Theater Arts, Spanish)
- “feedback for the teacher” form/paper (nothing fancy, just a place for the sub to leave you notes from the day
