Quick Write or Draw
Students have one minute to write/draw everything they know about topic. They could also write about something they learned or questions they still have regarding a topic..
Pair/Group Decided Question Stop class, group students, ask them to take 2 minutes to decide on one question they think is crucial for you to answer right now.

•Five fingers mean you have a deep understanding
•one finger means you do not yet understand
•two-four fingers indicate varying levels of understanding
Give One/Get One: The student writes down all they know about a topic. Teacher starts music/timer. Students move around room. Music stops. Students find a partner. The Pairs share lists and add something to the other person’s list. Continue 4 or 5 times.
Entrance/Exit Ticket
Have a question for students posted. Students will answer question and turn in before they leave or when they come to class the next day. This is their ticket out or in!
A/B Pair Share
Give students a topic and a designated time to share with a partner. Provide think time first.
In pairs, Partner A shares; partner B listens. Then reciprocate. Allow time to share out with class.
Onion Ring
Students form an inner circle and an outer circle.
Give students a topic to discuss. The inner and outer circles will discuss with the person across from them. Have inner ring rotate a designated number of times to the left, pose a new question, discuss with new person. Repeat 3-4 times.

Students write 3 important concepts/ideas they have learned,
2 items they are solid with
1 question they still have.
Think Break
Ask students a rhetorical question and give them a minute to think about it.
Total Physical Response – Students either stand or sit to indicate their answer, such as True/False, yes/no to the teacher’s questions.
Find the Fiction
Students write three statements about the topic: 2 true, 1 false. Group students. One student reads his/her statement to the other. Without consulting the others, each student writes down, his/her best guess as to which statement is false. Students “round robin” and defend their best guess.. Individuals announce their guess. The student who reads the statement announces the false statement.
