Slay the Dragons: In-Person Library Battle
We love offering so much #MoreThanOurBooks in the CRMS Library. We have special events, craft options before school and at lunch, clubs, enrichment, and more. If you're looking to support our library with other items, our library wishlist for craft supplies, games, and reading challenge incentives is here. Thank you!!
Our Library Club Interest Form is open!

An LISD email is necessary to view/complete this form.
An additional meeting in Jan./Feb may be scheduled for Read-A-Thon - 3/6 is not a regular meeting - it is only for Read-A-Thon set-up.

Creative Writing Club
Creative Writing Club is back on some Monday mornings in the library from 8:35-9:00.
This year, we will do some writing prompts and develop pieces into short movies, podcasts, or print products. We hope to exchange feedback and presentations with other schools, too.
The Creative Writing Club Interest Form is here (you must have a student LISD account to view/access), and meeting dates this fall are:
September 15, 29, October 6, 13, November 10, 17, December 1, 8.
We'll have some optional, low-stakes opportunities for students throughout the year - last year we had literary pets photo contests and sticky note waffle drawing and book tissue box designs, and this year, we have more! Details for each contest will follow, but here's a look at the concepts and the deadlines for this school year:
Pets at the Movies Photo Contest
Details and Entry Form
Deadline: September 13, 2025
Trivia night details and sign-ups will be shared later in September. Film Fest entries are due by midnight on October 10th. Please see below for details about entering your movie.
Reading Challenges
Students are invited to participate in optional Reading Challenge menus this year, reading as many or as few books from each menu as they like. Each menu has 16 choices, and themes include: Light & Fun, Survival/Adventure, Curl Up & Cry, Light Romance/Dark-ish Fantasy, Mystery, and Free Choice. More menu options will unlock this year. We recognize student progress for reading off these menus with Wall of Fame recognition, some mini-prize packs (thank you in advance for donating small items from our Amazon wishlist), and 3D printed prizes. Students who want to participate need to join the Library Info and Reading Challenges Google Classroom - see Mrs. Wright for the join code.
Maker Days & Friday Lunch Enrichment
We are offering a few Maker Days again this year, where students with a Maker Day pass from the library and permission from their classroom teacher can visit the library to make crafts, build Lego and marble maze structures, or play board games.
We will also be setting up a schedule for Friday lunch enrichment with single activities that students can get passes to attend. The only people who will be in the library those days will be people doing that day's activity, whether it's karaoke, jewelry-making, word games, diamond painting, silent reading, student-led book clubs, improv/drama games, and more.
Parents, please ensure you have completed the Clubs Consent Form and check the Library Activities option if your student has permission to attend.

Thank you so much to our amazing Read-A-Thon fundraisers, our PTA, and our Student Council for helping us get new flexible furniture for our library this year! If you give students some comfortable furniture, they're going to want to spend more time in the library! We love it!
Follow our Instagram account @CanyonRidgeReads and our Canyon Ridge Library Facebook page, and help us create content! Use Canva or your own graphic design skills to create book recommendations or positive reading posts. Share them with Mrs. Wright, and we'll share them with our followers throughout the year!
