Ms. Garcia

My name is Sydney Garcia and I am a first year teacher! I am so excited to meet you and your kiddo. I am beyond grateful to have your child in my class for their first year at Akin Elementary School. I believe that it is truly important for you and your child to be aware of what learning environment they thrive in before they move to other grade levels. I plan on helping your child discover the best learning environments and strategies for them.

I am the youngest of 4 kids and I have 7 nieces and nephews. Additionally, I am a navy brat so I have moved a lot. I moved back and forth between Virginia Beach, VA (my birth place), Panama City Beach, FL, and Kerrville, TX (my family and I ended up after retirement). After 26 years in the military, my family retired and I attended school in Kerrville from K-12.

I graduated from Texas A&M University (WHOOP) with a Bachelor's of Science in Psychology and Minor in Sociology. At A&M, I met my boyfriend, Kevin, who majored in aerospace engineering. After he graduated, he got a job in Leander/Cedar Park and that is how I ended up in Leander! In August of 2022, we got a Bernedoodle and we named him Moose. I love to travel, read books, paddle board, watch reality TV shows/movies, and try restaurants/coffee shops in Austin.
