4^th grade bibliography/Works Cited lesson

Hi students,

This week we are going to look at citing our sources for a research paper.

What does the word cite mean?

To cite something means to do right by whoever said it and give them credit — for instance, if you add a brilliant statement to a paper but you're not the one who originally wrote it, you should cite, or point to, the original author. Another instance is citing the book or website where you found your information for a research paper.

A bibliography must be present at the end of a research paper or project to give credit to your sources of information. This also includes citing where you downloaded a picture from.

To avoid plagiarism in a research project, read and summarize the words and ideas in your own words. If you must use the exact wording, use quotation marks and cite the author.

Open Online Instruction and look for 4^th grade Bibliography Lesson.

After you review the citation samples, write a citation for a book or source that you are using for a project. It can be your ‘Who Was’ or ‘Who Is’ book. Complete a citation using the sample format. Submit it to the link below.
