Civil Engineering (CEA) is one of six specialty courses in the Project Lead the Way (PLTW) high school pre-engineering program. Students in this course will tackle real-world problems such as floor plan design, structural engineering, stormwater runoff, and truss calculations. Projects include designing and 3D modeling an up-to-code Habitat for Humanity house and a commercial building.
To take CEA, you must have taken and passed IED and POE. In this course, you will employ engineering and scientific concepts to solve engineering problems. You will develop problem-solving skills and apply your knowledge of research and design to create solutions to various challenges that increase in difficulty throughout the course. You will also learn how to document your work, and communicate your solutions to your peers and members of the professional community.
