Of God and Men
Up in the heavens lived a god who would watch over man. He would push them towards what he himself would determine to be human progress. It was up for him to decide on what was good for society and what wasn’t. As he watched over humanity he discovered that a trickster was causing problems and changing his perfect vision of what humanity should be. So he went down to the trickster, disguised as an old man and talked to the trickster. He said to the trickster,
“What compels you to go against god’s wishes?”
“What makes god's wishes so important?” The trickster replied as he skipped around the old man.
“For his words are the true path to freedom and salvation!” The man responded, furious at the trickster’s playful attitude.
“For what do we need to be saved from?” The trickster again replied questioning the gods place in the world, he would smile a devilish smile.
“From his wrath! For it is men like you who disturb his peaceful kingdom!” The old man preached as he was growing quite tired of the trickster’s games.
“So he guides us but he does not let us choose our own path? Then why let us choose? Why give us free will if it means that he himself only loses?”
“Enough!” The old man exclaimed as he let loose his godly form in front of the trickster as he wielded a holy sword of judgement that would light aflame as he wielded it. He then looked down to the trickster who drew his own flintlock pistol dressed with dark metal. The god laughed as he spoke to the trickster with a heavenly voice.
“What is a god to a man? Nothing for I am all powerful and almighty!”
“Then what is a god to a non-believer?” The trickster responded as he fired his weapon straight through the gods head. As the god’s sword slashed through his heart.
