Hello my name is Darren Madison and I am a Student Assistance Specialist (SAS) and member of the Unified Mental Health Team. As members of the Unified Mental Health Team, Student Assistance Specialists support LCPS initiatives that promote student connectedness, enhance student resilience and educate about mental health and substance use issues. We provide educational presentations for students and parents, restorative practices, individualized and group support, referral services, coordination with providers, staff development and consultation with parents and staff.
I am a License Clinical Social Worker with approximately 30 years of experience working as a SAS, a counselor in private therapeutic settings, and previously worked as a Juvenile and Adult probation officer.
I graduated from high school in Virginia Beach, Virginia, but originally from Fort Worth, Texas. Attended Hampton University where I receive my Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and complete my master's degree in Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University.
