The parade will be held rain, snow, or shine.
However, in the event of extreme weather and safety concerns, LCSO may require cancellation. There will be no postponement or rescheduling of the parade.
The following intersections will be closed. Please see the attached map for the parade route.
522 will be a NO PARKING zone between Mineral Baptist Church and Mineral Fire Department

1st Street making the left onto Mineral Ave
Mineral Ave from the Exxon to Miller's Market
The intersection of Mineral Ave and 5th Street
The intersection of 5th Street and Mineral Ave towards Walton Park
The parade will begin at 6:00 sharp. You may set up your chairs and blankets on either side of Main Street, from the corner where the Exxon is located to Miller's Market.
Parking for the parade is all throughout Mineral on any side street that has street parking.
Viewers can even park up by Mineral Baptist Church or down a side street past Miller's Market and walk to Main Street to view the parade.
Please note, it will take some time after the parade is finished to return to normal traffic flow. Please be patient!
If you are parking at Walton Park and need to go to Mineral Farmer’s Market, there will be LCPS school bus shuttles on a constant rotation. The shuttles will leave the Park to go to the Market every few minutes or when they are full.
Please walk out of the Walton Park Parking Lot and head towards the Duke Oil building.
Please do not park behind Duke Oil as this business is open and we do not want to interfere.
All walking groups need to arrive at Mineral Farmer’s Market Field no later than 5:00 pm. People can arrive as early as 3:00 if necessary.
There will be a participant drop-off at the Mineral Farmer's Market loop by the railroad tracks.
If you are driving yourself and need to park your car, you will need to park at Walton Park and ride the provided LCPS School Bus over to the Farmer's Market.
There is NO PARKING at the Mineral Farmer’s Market Field. It is drop off only!
Please understand the dentist and eye-doctor are open businesses. We need to allow their patients to park in these spaces.
If you want to walk with your child, please go to Walton Park and ride the School Bus Shuttle over.
I am riding a float…where do I go and when do I need to be there?
Floats need to arrive at Mineral Baptist Church no later than 5:00pm. You can arrive as early as 3:00 to decorate.
There will be a participant drop-off at the Mineral Farmer's Market loop by the railroad tracks.
If you are driving yourself and need to park your car, you will need to park at Walton Park and ride the provided School Bus Shuttle over to the Farmer's Market.
There is NO PARKING of personal vehicles at the Mineral Baptist Church.
Only people decorating floats will be allowed in Mineral Baptist Church until a designated time. We ask that all student participants remain in Mineral Farmer's Market with a chaperone until the designated time to escort participants to their floats.
Floats need to arrive at Mineral Baptist Church no later than 5:00pm. You can arrive as early as 3:00 to decorate.
There will be Leadership students AS SOON AS you pull in that will put you in the correct lineup as you arrive. Floats are the only vehicles allowed to park at Mineral Baptist Church.
There is NO PARKING of personal vehicles at the Mineral Baptist Church.
The judges will be looking at overall construction and cleanliness of the floats as well originality/adherence to the theme. While strictly sticking to the theme is not required, if other groups choose to apply the theme in more original ways, it could work in their favor.
Judges will be located on the left hand side, in front of the DMV and Mineral Mercantile.
Portable restrooms will be located at:
Walton Park prior to boarding the shuttle
Mineral Farmer's Market where all the participating groups will be staged.
Restrooms can also be found at the Mineral Fire Department building.
Please encourage participants to use the restroom before the parade start time.
Do NOT unload passengers until you pull all the way up to the float in front of you and come to a complete stop.
Participants and a chaperone can walk towards the grassy area to wait for their rides. Please
disassemble your float so that you can drive legally. Please pull forward and drive away slowly while still in Walton Park.
Walking groups proceed ALL THE WAY INTO Walton Park (through the gates) before heading to the grassy area in the circle and the parking lot to be dismissed.
Please encourage participants to stay with their designated chaperones in the grassy area until their ride arrives.
