PLOT:

"Senshadou" is a traditional sport using World War II era tanks in elimination-based matches. Widely practiced by women and girls alike, it's advertised as a form of art geared towards making ladies more prominent in culture and appealing to men.  

The series takes place in a world where high school girls take up sensha-dō (戦車道, literally  "the way of the tank") or "tankery" in the English dub, the art of operating tanks. 

The anime focuses on a girl named Miho Nishizumi and her friends as they participate in their school's sensha-dō program and try to save the school from closing.

Yes, it is an odd mix, cute girls firing at each other from tanks, but the tanks are AWESOME and the battles are EPIC!!!! The animators obviously put a GREAT DEAL of EFFORT into their research as the armor as drawn, is very exact, right down to the rivet patterns, tank treads and wheel types. Heck ,they even did a fantastic job on our title image at the top of the page, of depicting the "ambush camouflage" scheme as worn by German tanks during the Second World War. Well Done!!

Episode Summary

Girls und Panzer: Episode 6

As Miho once again uses the radio interceptor to lure the rest of Saunders away, the Duck Team manage to find Alisa's tank and lures it into an ambush by the other Ooarai tanks. After learning the truth about the radio interception, Saunders' commander Kay sends an equal number of tanks to pursue Ooarai as they chase after Alisa, taking out both the Rabbit and Duck teams. Despite the grim situation, Miho calms her nerves and urges her teammates not to give up. Climbing up to the top of the ridge, the Anglerfish Team manage to take out Alisa's tank before they are taken out themselves, winning the match. After Kay commends Miho on her victory and takes her leave, Mako receives a call that her grandmother has been taken into hospital. Hearing about this, Maho allows Mako and Saori to take her helicopter back to Ooarai to see her.
