Youth Outreach Services
Youth Outreach Consultants are attached to all LBPSB high school.
The Youth outreach services mission is to re-engage students at risk of dropping out or experiencing truancy issues by providing support to schools, students, and families at critical points in their schooling.
Our Purpose
To increase the graduation and qualification rate of our students
To develop opportunities for successful transitions at critical points in schooling
Our Approach
1. Provide direct support to schools, students, and families.
Work with student and family to develop a plan to re-engage student in school.
Collaborate with the school team to explore alternative intervention strategies.
Monitor progress of plan; provide ongoing feedback to school and family.
2. Facilitate appropriate transitions and educational placements based on the student's needs.
Participate in the transition process and provide follow-up as required.
3. Collaborate with community partners & health and social services to provide support services to students and their families, as required.
Our Target population
Any LBPSB high school student who has been identified
As being at risk of dropping out
As not attending school on a regular basis, and
For whom alternative intervention strategies need to be explored
Family Outreach Services
Family Outreach Consultants are attached to several LBPSB elementary and high schools.
These consultations services are intended to provide additional support to parents of children who are struggling with social-emotional behavioral difficulties. These time-limited supports can entail, but are not limited to, parent meetings, counselling sessions, support to administrators and school team members, as well as linking families to outside services.
Outreach Consultant for Black students and families is attached to several LBPSB elementary and high schools.
This consultations service is intended to provide additional support to school administration and personnel in order to support Black students and their families. It is through the creation and application of interventions that are anti-racist in their nature that such consultations are intended to address the unique needs of the Lester B Pearson School Board’s Black community. When appropriate, this time-limited support can include but is not limited to, parent meetings, counselling sessions, act as liaison between community organizations, as well as linking families to outside services (when necessary).
