FSSTT Social Work Technicians
Social Work Technicians are key members of the FSSTT. Their primary role is to guide students in developing their social & emotional learning skills. Through advocacy and attachment, they also diffuse crises, and support self-regulation to foster success. FSSTT Social Work Technicians working in their assigned school also provide ongoing support to staff, as well as students and their families. They also liaise with CIUSSS, hospitals, schools, and community partners to help students and families access services. Specifically, the FSSTT Social work Technician can:
Helps students develop their social and emotional learning skills (Self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision making).
Design and facilitate individual, small-group, or whole class social and emotional interventions, as needed.
Create and facilitate small group interventions during unstructured times such as recess, lunch, and breakfast club, when appropriate.
Advocate for the students to create a better understanding of their needs and what might underlie their behaviours and emotional manifestations.
Form connections, meet with or contact legal gardians around their child's strengths, needs, or difficulties.
