General Applications
Stamp
Stamp 96-to-96
Method Status: Available on FX & FXp
This method is useful for transferring all or some contents from one plate into another plate. The plate types can differ or be identical. For every source plate, there must be a destination plate.
Maximum deck capacity: 5 source and destination pairs
Equipment: Biomek FX, Biomek FXp
Example(s): PCR setup
Stamp Res-to-96
Method Status: Available on FX & FXp
This method is useful for dispensing different reagents in bulk (200uL increments per channel) to prepare multiple plates. For every source reservoir, there must be an associated destination plate.
Maximum deck capacity: 5 source and destination pairs
Equipment: Biomek FX, Biomek FXp
Example(s): Culture Prep
Stamp 384-to-384
Method Status: Available on FX
This method is useful for transferring all or some contents from one plate into another plate. The plate types can differ or be identical. For every source plate, there must be a destination plate.
Maximum deck capacity: 2 source and destination pairs
Equipment: Biomek FX, Biomek FXp
Example(s): Echo Prep
One to Many
One to Many 96-to-96
Method Status: Available on FX & FXp
This method is useful for dispensing aliquots from one plate into multiple destination plates.
Maximum deck capacity: 1 source and 13 destinations
Equipment: Biomek FX, Biomek FXp
Example(s): PCR setup
One to Many Res-to-96
Method Status: Available on FX & FXp
This method is useful for dispensing reagent in bulk (200uL increments per channel) to prepare multiple plates.
Maximum deck capacity: 1 source and 13 destinations
Equipment: Biomek FX, Biomek FXp
Example(s): Media prep
Combination
Combination 96-to-384
Method Status: Available on FX & FXp
This method is useful for combining four different 96-well plates of the same type into one 384-well plate.
Maximum deck capacity: 1 source and 4 destinations
Equipment: Biomek FX, Biomek FXp
Example(s): Pooling
Combination 24-to-96
Method Status: In Progress
This method is useful for combining four different 24-well plates of the same type into one 96-well plate.
Maximum deck capacity: 1 source and 4 destinations
Equipment: Biomek NXp, Biomek NX-S8
Example(s): Pooling
Breakdown
Breakdown 384-to-96
Method Status: Available on FX & FXp
This method is useful for splitting any or all quadrants of a 384-well plate into multiple 96-well plates of the same type.
Maximum deck capacity: 1 source and 4 destinations
Equipment: Biomek FX, Biomek FXp
Example(s):
Breakdown 96-to-24
Method Status: In Progress
This method is useful for splitting any or all quadrants of a 96-well plate into multiple 24-well plates of the same type.
Maximum deck capacity: 1 source and 4 destinations
Equipment: Biomek NXp, Biomek NX-S8
Example(s):
Serial Dilution
Serial Dilution 96-to-96
Method Status: Available on FX
This method is useful for performing a stepwise dilution of a source liquid/solution into different destination plates where the diluted material of the first destination plate is used as the source for the dilution of the next destination plate.
Maximum deck capacity: 1 source and 13 destinations
Equipment: Biomek FX, Biomek FXp
Serial Dilution Res-to-96
Method Status: Available on FX
This method is useful for performing a stepwise dilution of a source liquid/solution into different destination plates where the diluted material of the first destination plate is used as the source for the dilution of the next destination plate.
Maximum deck capacity: 1 source and 13 destinations
Equipment: Biomek FX, Biomek FXp
Qtray Plating
Qtray Plating
Method Status: Available on FXp, NXp, and NX-S8
This method is particularly useful for preparing 48-well Qtrays by plating (dispensing) cell culture onto a solid agar. Half of the source plate is transferred onto one Qtray while the other half is plated on another Qtray. Once those cells grow into colonies, the Qtrays are then transferred onto the Molecular Devices Qpix for colony picking.
Maximum deck capacity: 1 source and 2 Qtrays
Equipment: Biomek FXp, Biomek NXp, Biomek NX-S8
Example(s): Transformation plating setup
Hitpick
Hitpick
Method Status: In Progress
This method is useful for transferring any specific well of one plate into another well of another plate. Plate formats (i.e. number of wells) do not have to match from source to destination. Typically, inter-plate transfers are done, but intra-plate transfers can be accomplished as well.
Transfers can follow a user-specified pattern in a worklist or be done at random.
Equipment: Biomek FXp, Biomek NXp, Biomek NX-S8
Maximum deck capacity: Variable (if want new tips for every transfer, can have 4 sources and 4 destinations; otherwise, can have any combinations of 11 total sources and destinations combined)
Example(s): Archiving
