As a part of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), Title III provides supplemental funding to local school districts, including Lawrence, to support English Learners (ELs) and immigrant children and youth.
The official Title III priority is as follows: To assist districts in improving the educational performance of English learners and immigrant children and youth by assisting them in learning English and meeting the same challenging state academic content standards that other students are expected to meet.
While Title III cannot fund activities that are required by the district for the education of ELs, they can be used to fund supplemental programs such as after school programs, tutoring, Saturday Academies, and family literacy nights.
The LPS EL Department provides an allocation of funds to each school based on their number of English Learners and encourages schools to take full advantage of the funds!
Please note that only principals and/or LAT facilitators should submit Title III proposals to the LPS ML Department.
Please complete one form per proposal. At the completion of the form, the department will review your proposal and will respond to your proposal with next steps and whether it was accepted or not. The ML Department accepts applications on rolling basis. Submission will open September1st 2025, and will remain open until May 1st 2026.
