Board Member Terms &  Expectations

Term of Board Position

All appointments of the board shall commit to one term which will last one (1) year. Board members may renew their position annually and do not need to reapply. No person shall serve more than 5 consecutive terms unless the majority of the board votes to appoint a board member for another one (1)  year of board membership. 

Trial Term

New board members are given a two month trial period to ensure that they can commit to one full year term of board membership.

Participation & Engagement

Board Members are expected to actively participate accordingly:

• Involvement in a committee: Attend committee meetings and uphold committee responsibilities.  

• Attend board meetings: Board meetings are considered mandatory and typically occur one to two times per month. Board meetings are used to report out any work done by committees, and to address any items that need the full board attention and decision making.

• Participate in game days: Board members are expected to attend and participate in game-day operations on a rotating schedule. Board members are assigned 2.5 hour shifts based on ability and availability. Duties include storage unit runs, equipment setup, checking in and paying referees, providing basic first aid, answering player questions and taking feedback, etc. 

Time Commitment

Board Members are generally expected to meet the minimum monthly time commitments outlined below. 

Some commitment variation and/or fluctuation is allowed due to individual circumstances such as family emergencies, medical or mental health conditions, etc. In general, the time commitment is: 

• In Season (March - October): 14 - 27 hours/month

  • Game days: 6 - 10 hours/month

  • Additional work: 8 - 17 hours/month

• Off-Season (November - February): 6 - 11 hours/month

A closer look at time commitments: 

In Season (March - October):

• Board and Committee meetings: 3 - 4 hours/month

• Individual work: 4 - 10 hours/month

• Game day shifts: 6 - 10 hours/month

• Practices: 1 - 3 hours/month

• Other events: > 50% of all events

Off Season (November - February):

• Board and Committee meetings: 2 - 3 hours/month

• Individual work: 4 - 8 hours/month
