AVID Elective

In this AVID Elective Course, we focus on organization and ownership. As the videos and slides below illustrate, organization is fundamental to developing and enhancing the skills necessary for life-long successes. Students will keep their Cornell/Focused Notes, papers, and projects, among other things, in their eBinders, which will be divided by subject into pages and subpages. With easy access to their work, students can and will be able to spend more time and energy on their assignments and projects, rather than trying to find where they put them!

While this may seem remedial, organization is a skill that is developed and reinforced over time and helps students connect with their goals and take ownership of their learning. Through tutorials, for instance, students will present their work; pose an essential question and point of confusion; lead discussions; and, provide feedback to their peers on a chosen subject. The experience of regularly collaborating with their classmates in tutorials will thus build the confidence and academic aptitudes that make college dreams come true.

En este curso electivo de AVID, nos centramos en la organización y la propiedad. Como ilustran los videos y las diapositivas a continuación, la organización es fundamental para desarrollar y mejorar las habilidades necesarias para el éxito de toda la vida. Los estudiantes mantendrán sus Cornell / Notas enfocadas, documentos y proyectos, entre otras cosas, en sus eBinders, que se dividirán por tema en páginas y subpáginas. Con un fácil acceso a su trabajo, los estudiantes pueden y podrán dedicar más tiempo y energía a sus tareas y proyectos, ¡en lugar de tratar de encontrar dónde los ponen!

Si bien esto puede parecer reparador, la organización es una habilidad que se desarrolla y refuerza con el tiempo y ayuda a los estudiantes a conectarse con sus objetivos y a apropiarse de su aprendizaje. A través de tutoriales, por ejemplo, los estudiantes presentarán su trabajo; plantear una pregunta esencial y punto de confusión; dirigir debates; y, proporcionar comentarios a sus compañeros sobre un tema elegido. La experiencia de colaborar regularmente con sus compañeros de clase en tutoriales creará la confianza y las aptitudes académicas que hacen realidad los sueños universitarios.
