The point of the Better Jobs Ontario program is to help you consider career possibilities and support you financially while you achieve those goals. The reality is that not everyone will be accepted to the program and to support the decision making process the Ministry would like you to document other plans you might consider.Â
Activity #1: Develop a Contingency Plan
You will need to include a Better Jobs Ontario Contingency Plan in your application. Using the Better Jobs Ontario Contingency Plan Form, write a summary of your plans should you not be approved. This might include different options such as not attending school and continuing to job search, or applying to OSAP, applying for grants and bursaries, going to school part-time, etc. Once you have written your contingency plan, make sure you review it with your instructor/advisor or employment counsellor. After you have finalized the plan, upload it to your Better Jobs Ontario Folder.
Activity #3: Look for Job Opportunities
Look for two job postings relevant to your new career path. These should be the types of jobs you could apply for after the training is complete. Highlight the educational requirements/skills you will obtain through the training to qualify for the position. If you can't find two posting you can also ask for a letter from an employer that states they are hiring for the position and provides a description of the position. Scan and/or copypaste the information onto a document and upload to your Better Jobs Ontario Folder. Make sure you include the phrase "Job Opportunities" in your file name(s).
