This term at Leigh Academy Dartford has been eventful and full of learning for our French linguists.
Year 3 are becoming increasingly confident with their language skills and are showing such enthusiasm on their foreign language learning journey. They are certainly displaying risk takers and communicators attributes. They have learned how to greet, express how they are feeling, colours and numbers to 20. They have also practised how to role play a simple exchange in French.
Our Year 4 students have made an exciting start in their French lessons! This term, they’ve been learning how to introduce themselves confidently, sharing their names, ages, and where they live—all in French! They’ve also begun exploring the days of the week and the months of the year. It’s wonderful to see their enthusiasm as they practise these essential skills.
Year 5 have learned to talk about the weather and how to describe what the weather is like in different areas of the country, practising to be weather forecasters. They have also amazingly performed in a French Nativity event for parents and other children thus using their linguistic skills to a high standard. They have truly impressed me with their confidence and resilience. A big thank you to Year 5 and Year 5 teachers for performing in, organising and leading this incredible event.
Finally, but not least, Year 6 have had an exciting time communicating with our French partner school in Pia. It was with great excitement that they received their letters from their penfriends and wrote their own letters, showing their penmanship and linguistic skills. We have more exciting projects in the pipeline in our international collaboration with our partner school so I can’t wait to share that with you in the near future. Leigh Academy Dartford truly has internationally minded learners!
