Dear Parents and Carers,
This spring term has felt especially productive, with students engaging in diverse learning experiences both within and outside the academy. Modules 3 and 4 saw numerous off-site educational visits as well as on-site workshops, enriching the curriculum and providing valuable practical insights.
As we approach the Easter break, Year 13 students are preparing for their initial formal examinations. We extend our best wishes for their success and acknowledge their consistent effort throughout their time at LAB.
Year 11 students will also begin their formal examination period after Easter. We are confident in their preparation and anticipate their continued academic success. We look forward to welcoming a significant proportion of this cohort into our IB Diploma and Careers Related Programmes in September.
Our year 10 students are currently arranging work experience placements for July. We urge any parents or local businesses able to offer placements to contact Mr. Hayre, Curriculum Coordinator - Careers, at manjinder.hayre@leighacademyblackheath.org.uk, to support the success of this important opportunity.
Year 7 students have actively participated in the completion of their student passports, with some also contributing to the recent Challenge Partners Review. Their presentation on the academy’s values-based approach at KS3 resulted in LAB receiving both an area of excellence and a "Leading" judgment across all criteria. The full Challenge Partners Review report is available in the "Academy Life" section of this newsletter.
We hope you enjoy this edition of the newsletter and have a restful Easter when it arrives.
We look forward to welcoming students back on Tuesday, 22nd April from 8.00 am.
Best wishes,
Ms E. Smith
