Our central idea for this term is 'Discoveries can be made through exploration of the world.'
Using the Key Concepts of Causation, Function and Responsibility, the lines of inquiry we will explore are:
Why people decide to undertake a journey and what their journeys are like
How journeys help to connect people and places around the world
How exploration enables people to take responsibility for the world they live in
On Monday, Year 6 took part in a Polar Exploration workshop. This was led by Dan, a real explorer who has travelled across the globe and met many wonderful animals. Through the workshop, the children learnt all about the polar regions and the challenges of surviving in such extreme climates. They also had the opportunity to handle artefacts from a range of Dan's previous expeditions. The children (and adults) thoroughly enjoyed the session and asked some wonderful questions.
Year 6 have been enjoying tennis lessons at the Country club this term. Please enjoy some action shots below!
What a fantastic start to the new term. Year 6 were fortunate to experience two forest school days with our ranger, Donna. The children took part in a wide range of activities, including: building bridges and swings, creating seesaws and shelters, abseiling, whittling a range of tools, cooking popcorn and more. It was fantastic to see the creativity shown during these two sessions.
