Our central idea is 'Resolving conflict may enable humans to live peacefully with one another.'
Using the Concepts of change, causation and perspective, the lines of inquiry we will explore are:
How conflict affects everyone in society in different ways.
How conflicts have changed over time.
How conflicts started in different places.
Year 6 were so fortunate to meet Jack and Judy, local residents who lived through World War II. Jack spoke about his near evacuation to South Africa, including his lucky escape from danger. Judy told the children all about her experience of daily life, including food and rationing. They both had such fascinating experiences to share - it was a truly fantastic talk.
Here are some photos from our trip to the RAF Museum. The children saw some fantastic aircraft, ranging from the earliest planes, through WWII and up to the modern day. They also participated in a workshop, where they were extremely knowledgeable about life during the war.
Year 6 began this term's learning by creating some timelines to represent key events during WWII.
