Universal Design for Learning Self-Reflection Matrix

The unit improvements are made to consider all components of the Universal Design in Learning are reflected as needed. The topic is Empowering Perspectives, based on culture and laws; Civil Rights in the United States.

• Reflect on the principles and approaches of Universal Design Learning.

• Consider major UDL pillars: engagement, representation, action and expression.

• Ensure best practices for all future learners and future lessons. 

Reflection:

The careful review of the elements found in Universal Design for Learning was a great practice to take previously designed lessons and include the pillars engagement, representation, action and expression. The matrix demonstrates examples that fall into categories for accessing information, building meaning from the content, and internalizing the information.   As stated in the matrix, the goal is to promote expert learners.
