Regular admission = the most common way to apply; usually has a deadline
Rolling admission = usually means they accept students on an ongoing basis, but always check for a deadline
Early action = applying before the regular admission deadline, usually by November or December; if you apply this way, it shows the college you are motivated to getting your application submitted early. This is recommended if you are applying to a competitive program or are very motivated to attend a certain college.
Early decision = applying to a school and, upon acceptance, you sign a contract stating that you will withdraw applications from all other schools and commit to that school. You can apply early decision to only one school, and regular admission to others at the same time. But if you get admitted via early decision, you are committing to attend that college.

You must request letters of recommendation from your teachers. On SchooLinks, each college you apply to will show the required number of letters and the allowed number of letters. We recommend you request 2-3 teacher letters of recommendation. Counselors write one letter of recommendation for each student as well.
Please click the above link to see the steps to request letters of recommendation.

Email coaches to let them know you are interested in their programs. Create an email template (name, high school, position and sport, any press you’ve received, awards, accolades, etc) to use for all schools.
Consider requesting a letter of recommendation from your coach(es) when you apply to the college
If necessary, monitor your social media accounts - once you make yourself public, schools will be googling you!

*Note that if you do receive offers and scholarships, they are generally good for one year at a time and not guaranteed for 4 years. Make sure to read the fine print, and your counselor can help.
