Principal's Message:

It's been a drizzly end to the week but the children have enjoyed wearing their own clothes today to raise money for Comic Relief.

Reception have also had a lovely afternoon sharing their cards and flowers at their Mother's Day afternoon tea where they invited a special female in their lives into school to celebrate.

Car Park

We are noticing, especially on days like today, that the car park is becoming increasingly busy. We understand that there has been a longstanding agreement that parent cars are allowed to double park in the staff area if the car parking spaces are full. We are of the opinion that this is encouraging more cars to park in our car park than is allowed before we reach full capacity. We have also noticed that, even when there are free spaces, some parents are still choosing to park in the staff parking area and disabled bays. Please be respectful of this arrangement because, as you know, we are shortly going to be having the car park lines repainted to create more spaces in the staff parking area for staff vehicles. This will mean that this space will therefore become unavailable for parents and carers; we wouldn't want to be in the position whereby a decision has to be made to close this area off entirely, and sooner, should the situation not improve.

Reflection Room

We are trialling the use of a designated room at lunchtime which children may be asked to visit for a period of time if they need some time-out from the playground and/or their behaviour choices do not meet our expectations. This will mean that a consequence can be given to a child very quickly and therefore the situation dealt with. We have called this space the Reflection Room as it will be a quiet place for pupils to reflect upon their behaviour and how they could have done things differently. This concept has worked very successfully at other schools and so we are sure that it will be just as effective at Langley Park.

Staffing

Today we have said goodbye to Mr Arnold and Miss Clarke. Mr Arnold has decided to pursue a career as a teacher and has become an Academic Mentor at another academy. Miss Clark will be starting a Communications and Marketing Apprenticeship to launch her career in an entirely different industry. We wish them both lots of luck and thank them for all they have done for the academy.

At the end of this term, we will also be saying goodbye to Miss Henderson. Miss Henderson is becoming involved in a start-up company and will be responsible for its marketing. She will also be managing a new coffee shop that is due to open in Bearsted. We will be really sorry to see Miss Henderson go but wish her all the best in her new endeavours.

I hope that you all have a lovely weekend.

Contacting academy staff:

If you have concerns that you would like to raise with the academy, please do so via the office email address which is contactus@langleyparkprimaryacademy.org.uk. Upon receipt, your email will be directed to the relevant member(s) of staff.

We respectfully ask that you address any concerns or issues with your child's class teacher in the first instance. If it remains unresolved then your concern will then be escalated to Mrs McRobb, Vice Principal. In the unlikely event that it continues to remain unresolved, it will be escalated to Miss Brading at that point.

We are also aware that some parents continue to email staff directly. In the event that this happens, staff have been asked to forward your email to the aforementioned email address to resume communication via the correct channels.

National Online Safety Guide

Every year, Comic Relief goes all out to help people, both in the UK and internationally, who are going through a tough time. As an academy, we are acutely aware that, for children and young people in particular, many of those difficult moments are increasingly originating from, and unfold in, the digital world.

From inappropriate content to the toxic behaviour of others, online harms can do long-lasting damage. That's why we try to consistently provide you with information about how you can help your child build up digital resilience, thus equipping them to deal with digital dangers.

The guide below includes a selection of tips for encouraging safe and healthy online habits, as well as a useful list of suggestions which could help you and your family strike the right balance and build digital resilience.
