During Term 2 we have continued to develop the children's understanding of our Central Idea through the following lines of inquiry.
Line of Inquiry 3: An inquiry into how play can help us build relationships and a sense of belonging.
As part of our learning, the children have also been developing an understanding of the PYP Learner Profile attributes through familiar and much-loved Julia Donaldson stories. These stories have supported rich discussions and imaginative play, helping the children make meaningful connections to the attributes in action. During their play, the children showed they were investigators while exploring Autumn in the outdoor environment, asking questions and discovering changes in nature. They have also been learning to be communicators and caring collaborators by working together in small groups to create shared outcomes, such as building an aeroplane in the garden to travel all the way to Bulgaria, demonstrating creativity, teamwork, and a growing awareness of the world around them.
Line of Inquiry 4: An inquiry into the choice we make to take care of ourselves, others and our environment.
In Nursery, our inquiry has focused on the choices we make to care for ourselves, our learning environment, and the wider world. Through daily routines, the children are developing healthy habits such as washing their hands before eating and after using the toilet. They are also learning to look after the environment by placing recycled paper into our recycling bin, Captain Recycle, and talking about why recycling is important. To extend their understanding of caring for others, the children took part in a Christmas initiative by collecting food to donate to a local food bank, helping them to develop empathy and an early sense of social responsibility.
The children have also worked hard to learn their Christmas songs for our Christmas sing-along. We are so proud of each and everyone of them.
We wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful 2026!
Best Wishes
Mrs L , Grace, Jo and Beckie.
