Assessment Liaison Program

The Outcomes Assessment Liaison is available to help with all aspects of student learning outcomes assessment. Student success is the goal of outcomes assessment, and clarifying learning goals (outcomes) and using those outcomes as a guide for teaching and learning is the heart of the process. The liaison is available to help faculty determine best practices to assess student learning in a manner appropriate to each program/discipline and student population.

Specifically, the assessment liaison is available to help faculty:

  1. Identify Outcomes and Clarify Lane’s Assessment Processes/Requirements

  • Clarify Lane’s institutional processes/requirements around student learning outcomes assessment, and define terminology/concepts where necessary

  • Assist programs in addressing any assessment goals identified in Academic Program Review

  • Identify current program/discipline-level and course level outcomes, and identify where these may need adjustment/refinement/articulation

  • Formulate measurable/observable outcome language

  • Examine alignment of course, program/discipline, and institutional learning outcomes

  1. Develop a Program Assessment Plan (CTE or FOS)

  • Map out an assessment plan development timeline

  • Identify appropriate tools for collecting both direct and indirect evidence of learning

  • Help faculty develop assessment tools, including shared assignments and rubrics

  • Facilitate discussion and collaboration among area faculty

  • Identify any needs for project funding that may be required to facilitate collaboration, development of tools, or implementation of significant changes in curriculum

  1. Implement the Assessment Plan

  • Encourage/assist with collaboration, implementation of tools

  • Assist with data collection, analysis, and action plan recommendations, as needed

  • Help troubleshoot areas where issues come up

  • Help with the initial assessment report

4. Make adjustments to the Assessment Plan as indicated

  • Assist with implementation of recommendations/action plan identified in initial and subsequent reports

  • Continue to assist with collaboration, tools development, evidence collection and data analysis
