Alumni Choir

The SKH Lam Woo Memorial Secondary School Alumni Choir (Lam Woo Alumni Choir), founded for the school’s 35th Anniversary Concert in 2005, has involved more than 300 alumni over the years. Uniting alumni from the past four decades, the choir has cultivated a diverse repertoire, ranging from sacred choral works to contemporary arrangements, consistently showcasing the refined vocal artistry and disciplined teamwork for which Lam Woo is renowned.

In 2026, the Lam Woo Alumni Choir made its debut appearance on the international stage and won the Grand Champion “Kobe Choir Prize” at the “Sing from Kobe” International Choir Competition. They were also awarded the First Place in the Adult Choirs category, achieving a Gold Diploma with the highest score of 26.23 points across the entire competition – the best result ever for a Hong Kong choir in this event, marking a glorious chapter for Hong Kong's choral community. Many members were active in the school choir during their student days, having won four gold medals at the World Choir Games and winning the World Champion title in the Mixed Youth Choirs category in 2010. Some members also won the Grand Champion at the 13th China International Chorus Festival in 2016. After many years since graduation, they competed internationally for the first time as alumni and once again triumphed overseas.

Locally, the Lam Woo Alumni Choir returns to their alma mater’s stage every summer. They have also shared the spotlight with the Hong Kong Oratorio Society and the SAR Philharmonic Orchestra in various concerts, presenting works by distinguished composers such as Beethoven, Borodin, and Fauré under the baton of Dr. Gabriel Leung and Mr. Chiu Kai Keung. The Alumni Choir has also organised concert to raise funds for the conservation work for the SKH Holy Trinity Cathedral in Kowloon City (a Grade II historic building), fully demonstrating the Lam Woo graduates’ enthusiasm for giving back and harnessing the power of music to service our community.

The Lam Woo Alumni Choir embodies the school’s choral journey, honouring its legacy and shaping the future. A host of emerging musical talent has stepped forward as conductors, soloists and accompanists, eager to pass their passion for choral music across generations. The baton currently passes to alumnae Ms. Wong Wing Chi Gigi and Ms. Lam Pui Yee Theresa, leading the team in music that bridges eras and celebrates Lam Woo’s enduring choral spirit.
