Computer Applications

Course Description:

Students will develop technical skills and increase productivity while learning how to be proficient, productive, and safe users of technology, benefiting them throughout high school and when they enter the workforce and/or continue their education. Students will begin with the Google Suite of applications and transition to Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, the software used by businesses and colleges. Emphasis is placed on encouraging students to apply the skills they’ve learned with real-world applications, including creating professional emails, reports, business letters, presentations, spreadsheets, brochures, and newsletters. Students will also learn techniques for integrating animation effects, basic photo-editing, document design, and formatting. Students will also focus on improving keyboarding skills.

  • Keyboarding

Google Classroom:

Students will use Google Classroom along with other online learning environments and materials to complete class activities, assignments, labs, projects, and assessments.

Google Classroom facilitates creating, distributing, and completing assignments in a paperless environment, along with providing students 24x7, universal access to course materials. Students can access coursework in Google Classroom from any computing device. Students may also download the Google Classroom App to a smartphone. Course assignments and announcements are regularly posted in Google Classroom to facilitate students successfully and independently managing and completing coursework to better prepare students for college, the trades, and/or the workforce.
