2023 is my first year at Lakeview and I couldn’t be more excited to be here! I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education, Mild/Moderate Intervention Specialist from Notre Dame College as well as a degree in Early Childhood Education. I come to you from Lordstown High School, where I taught self-contained ELA and math for grades 7-12. Prior to that I spent four years at Champion High School as part of the intervention team working with students in grades 9-12.
After staying home to raise my children, I found my passion in Special Education. My husband, Christofer, and I reside in Cortland and we have two children, Luca and Pria, who attend Lakeview Schools. Outside of school I enjoy spending time with my family, gardening, cooking, and snuggling up with our three puppies. I am looking forward to a fantastic school year and am committed to providing high-quality, individualized instruction to meet the needs of each of my students.

I began working for Lakeview Schools in 1992. Both my bachelor's and master's degrees are from Kent State University. I have three teaching certifications. I am an intervention specialist. I work with students who struggle in math, specifically algebra and geometry. These classes are to help students develop and build upon necessary skills to be more successful in math. I also teach two special education math classes. Math is one of my favorite things to do! I enjoy working with children and each day I learn something from them.
As the purpose of these classes is to help students develop and build skills, it is imperative that each student attempts the homework from their regular math class at home, using their notes and examples from class. This allows for time in class for them to ask questions and for clarification. Any encouragement and support of each student to do so will greatly benefit the student.

I have been teaching with Lakeview Local Schools since 2000. My first two years were at Bazetta Elementary. I hold a BA in education from Carlow University, Special Education certification from Duquesne University and an MA in Special Education from Youngstown State University. While working on my undergraduate degree I worked as a job coach helping individuals with disabilities find and hold employment. While at Youngstown State University working on my Master’s, I also worked at the Rich Center for Autism.
I enjoy being at the high school teaching Intervention classes, collaborating with my fellow teachers and helping my students become successful in taking the next steps toward adulthood.

I’ve been teaching at Lakeview for 28 years as an Intervention Specialist, but I’ve been a Bulldog for all my life. I graduated from Lakeview in 1982 and couldn’t wait to get back. I taught one year for the County at Neal Middle School in the Mathews district, before I returned to Lakeview. I also teach Physical Education Basic courses at Kent State University. I haven’t always been a teacher though. My first degree is in Community Parks and Recreation, where I work for Chester County Parks and Recreation Department (Pa.) and then I worked for Northside Hospital in their Child and Adolescent Mental Health Unit as an activities specialist. I returned to college to obtain my degree in Education and have been teaching and loving it ever since.
After graduation from Lakeview, I joined the Ohio Army National Guard. I proudly served my country for 23 years. I spent most of my service time as a Military Policeman, Infantryman and an Automotive Repair Section Chief. I served overseas for a year in Kosovo and gained some valuable, rewarding memories serving with fellow soldiers and working with the local people and their schools. Working with the United Nations and the other countries opened my eyes to some very interesting cultural differences.
I married my high school sweetheart and we’ve just celebrated 33 years together. We have two wonderful children, Courtney, who is a math teacher at TCTC and Ian, an Intensive Care Unit Nurse at Akron City Hospital. I spend most of my free time doing just about any outdoor activity I can dream of. I spend a lot of time cycling around the beautiful countryside throughout Trumbull and Mahoning counties. I average around 3000 miles per year, so that absorbs a lot of time. I also enjoy backpacking, camping, hiking and any other activity that gets me moving and outside. I have to say that my most enjoyable time is spent with my three wonderful grandkids, Benjamin, Paige and Kiersten. Grandkids are truly a blessing.

I was born and raised in Alliance, Ohio and graduated from Marlington High School. I remained in Alliance throughout my college years, attending Mount Union College (now University of Mount Union), where I earned a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature with a minor in Adolescent Education. I moved to the area after getting hired at Lakeview in 2011, and currently reside in Poland with my husband, Lee. In the 2017-2018 school year, I began working on my Master’s Degree in Special Education, and I am currently working towards completing the degree.
I began my career teaching 11th grade Language Arts, but found my passion teaching 8th grade Language Arts. I enjoy experiencing the large academic and personal gains that students make throughout their 8th grade year. Over the past five years, I have worked closely with the high school Language Arts teachers to create an engaging yet rigorous curriculum that prepares students for high school.
I am extremely excited to work in our brand new building, as it will provide new and exciting learning opportunities for our students. Please contact me at any time with questions. I look forward to working with you.
