As a teacher since 2008, I've been a bit of a gypsy of sorts over the course of my career, but have finally planted my feet here at Lakeview. I've taught all levels of classes ranging from 7th to 12th grade and remediation to honors. I feel extremely confident in all of my teaching experiences, and I am so thankful I've had all of the opportunities in my career that I've had. At Lakeview, I currently teach Academic and Honors English 10 as well as CCP Foundations of Education. I am the adviser or National Honor Society, Future Educators Association, and the Lakeview Writing Center. I also serve as a Mentor teacher for the district.
I completed my Bachelor's degree at Mount Union (GO RAIDERS!) in English Literature and Secondary Education and also met my husband there. My Masters degree is in Administrative Leadership from Youngstown State University (GO PENGUINS!). Among these two degrees, I am also a National Writing Project Institute graduate and am a proud supporter, advocate, and teacher of The National Writing Project. Currently, I am a part-time faculty at YSU, teaching classes as part of the Teacher Education program. This has been a great addition to my teaching experience, and I enjoy every bit of it!
I love teaching at Lakeview and strive to create great writers in each an every one of my students. Feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have.

Hello! I have been a Bulldog since my family moved to Cortland when I was in the 3rd grade. I graduated from Lakeview in 1982, received my Bachelor’s in 1987, my Master’s in 2000, AP certification in 2003, and CCP certification in 2016. I taught junior high English and drama in Brandon, Florida for four years before returning to Ohio and starting a family. When my youngest entered kindergarten, I re-entered the teaching profession, returning to LHS. I’ve taught different levels and courses in our English Department, currently teaching Speech (public speaking), College Writing I and American Literature and Diversity in the College Credit Plus program, and High School Publications. Through the Publications program I instruct and assist the student staff in publishing The Bulldog Bulletin - Lakeview’s student newspaper and The Epic - Lakeview’s student yearbook. Since 2003, I have been the Lakeview Sr. Beta Club Adviser, also serving as Ohio Sr. Beta Sponsor, which opened up opportunities to travel to different state and national conventions and leadership summits.
I have been married to Gregory since 1987 and we have 2 adult children, both Lakeview graduates, so I have known Lakeview as a student, teacher, and a parent. I wouldn’t want to spend my career anywhere else.

Hello, my name is Carrie Schlatt, and I am proud to say that I have been a Lakeview Bulldog since 1994. Although I am a veteran teacher, my years here at LHS seemed to have passed in a blink of an eye. Over the years, I have taught various courses and grade levels and I have loved them all. Currently, I am privileged to teach senior Academic English, Writing II, and Communications Foundations.
I knew from a young age that I wished to be a teacher and my love of learning and working with young adults has always fueled my academic endeavors. In 1993, I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English and Spanish from Walsh University, and later in 2000, I received my Master of Arts in Mass Communication from Kent State University.
When I am not in my classroom, I am at home with my husband, Jeff, and our children, Tabby and Leo. In my free time, I love coaching my daughter’s competitive soccer team, exercising, reading, traveling, and spending time with my family.

I grew up outside of Pittsburgh. While I do not originate from Ohio, moving to Ohio has been serendipitous. I used to chant WE ARE at Penn State football games where I received my B.A. in English. Blue and white ran through my veins then with Penn State and now with Lakeview pride. After college, I attended the University of Pittsburgh for graduate school. There I received my Masters in English Education. On top of that, I am certified to teach both AP and CCP courses. I blinked my eyes, and here I am today: teaching for over 10 years!
I love learning, and I classify myself as a lifelong learner. I hope to instill that same passion for learning in my students. I recognize that not all students love being "students” like me. Not all students plan to attend college. However, I do urge all students to question, find solutions, create, and collaborate - skills necessary for all kinds of learners. Regardless of their path, students leave my classroom prepared for success after high school.
I also love working with young people. I find them inspiring. As much as I teach my students, they, in return, teach me too. Together we question. Together we explore. Together we create. Together WE ARE LAKEVIEW.
