Bernier & Williams ELA (Reading)

We have started reading the fabulous novel, Touching Spirit Bear. Students have been responding to what they have read. We will continue to work on this novel, while bringing in eigth grade standards. This novel will also be used as a reference for the next Project Based Learning experience.

Bernier & Williams. ELA (Writing)

We are finalizing our expository (informational) essay about a historically relevant person that has influenced your student in some way. Students focused on the person's contributions to society, individual accomplishments, and the obstacles that the person had to overcome to be successful.

It was interesting to see how students reflected on their own character traits, and how they have become the wonderful person they are today.

As this PBL project comes to a close, we are hanging their posters in the halls to share their amazing hard work on this project.

We are also working on creating quality pieces of writing in our everyday work by using the "Deal Breakers." These are expectations that we share with the 9th-grade ELA teachers. Below you will find the guide we are using.
