It not only benefits those being helped but can contribute significantly to the growth and development of the person helping. The experience involves 1) Preparation and planning; 2) Action; and 3) Reflection on the experience. Examples of projects include: participation in a Habitat for Humanity project, preparing food at the Ecumenical Food Bank, or providing support at any of the many athletic competitions hosted by Lake Placid. Projects organized through Key club or National Honor Society also count toward this requirement. If a parent or guardian participates in the project with the student, the student earns bonus service learning credit. All projects must be properly documented and approved. This is a LPCSD graduation requirement.

This Seminar also provides a wonderful forum to help students prepare for other transition issues including the college application process, resume writing, effective interviews, personal budgeting, and much, much more. Specific topics in the seminar will be adapted to meet the needs of each Seminar class. This is is a LPCSD graduation requirement.
