Assessment NEWS
TEACHERS Grades 3-5 NGSS
Recommended for NGSS 3rd-, 4th-, and 5th-Grade Teachers: While only 5th-grade students will have an end-of-year science test, the NGSS Interim Assessments offer teachers rigorous 10-15 minute mini-assessments on specific 3rd-, 4th-, and 5th-grade standards.
The tests can be projected in your classroom and worked on as a whole group, or you can mimic the real-test settings and have students take them independently as a formative or summative assessment
Students can take each mini-assessment up to 5 times (it will be the same test each time), so teachers could even give the test as a sort of pre-test/post-test activity
The scores of all Interim Assessments are recorded in Air Ways and are available for your analysis throughout the year
Teachers can assign any grade level's assessments (even middle school assessments)
There are also Interim Assessments available for ELA and Mathematics . In ELA/L, Both the CAT and PT must be completed for a student to get results for the ICA.
❖Although students have five opportunities, all of these tests are fixed form – there is only one version of each.
Test questions can NOT be posted online, sent home with the students, etc. The teacher can do whatever they want with the questions in the classroom, but the questions must never be leaked to the public (social media, email, worksheets, etc.)
Lastly, because the interim tests are public, teachers can project items and discuss them with students. The Training Test Answer Keys can be found in the Resources section on alohahsap.org. Prep guide is also here.
