Today for music you are going to listen to a story. The story goes along with some very famous music. After you hear the story, you will listen to the music and do some actions that go along with it! We have been talking about loud and soft in music - notice how the music starts quiet but gets louder and louder! Something else also changes with the music. Go back to Seesaw and tell me what it is!
Be sure to sing the answers with me! I would like to hear you sing the answers to the questions all by yourself, so when you are done practicing and feel confident that you can sing it yourself, please go back to Seesaw and record yourself singing the answers to the questions that I have recorded for you!
This is a "just for fun" activity! It is practicing the first rhythms that you learned, Ta's and Ti-ti's! Follow the rhythms and you can also see someone doing the actions on the screen!
Click on the video to the left to review the way we made a sound that lasts two beats by tying together two quarter notes (ta's). Today you will find out another way to show a note that gets two beats! When you are done watching the video, go to Seesaw and draw me the new note, the HALF NOTE, that is one note that lasts for two beats!
click on the video to do some work with rhythm and beat for the song ?Who's That Tapping at my Window,
This time, please sing the answers to the questions with me!
Please don't say "shh" for the rests, just tap your shoulders!
This is a fun question and answer song! You will notice that there are two questions and two answers. Each question and each answer is one musical sentence, or phrase. So, this song has 4 phrases in total. I would like you to keep a beat and figure out how many steady beats there are in each phrase. Go back to seesaw and let me know what you came up with!
I would also like you to record yourself on seesaw singing any song you would like! I don't get to hear you sing in class and I would love to hear how your voice is sounding! You can choose a song from music, or any song you know well - even Happy Birthday!
For today you will need your bug paper again! We are going to go through and figure out which beats each word goes on, and then figure out the rhythm. You will complete the rhythm on your own after I get you started. When you are finished, please take a picture of your paper and post it on Seesaw. Bring it in to school on Friday when you get your materials for next week.
Take a listen to this question and answer song. Keep the beat while you listen!
Click on the video to the left to learn a new song! Get out the worksheet with the bugs on it that you picked up from school on Friday and follow along. When you are through, go back to Seesaw and answer a questions about the song!
Today, your job is to show me what you know about reading rhythms. You will need to have the paper you picked up on Friday to do this review. When you have your paper and a pencil ready, click on the recording to the <---left. I will talk you through every step of the test. Listen carefully and follow along. When you are finished today, please take a picture of your paper and upload it to Seesaw. The paper should be returned on Friday when you hand in your work and pick up the materials for next week.
Have your grown up help you get to a rhythm game on the computer that will help you get ready for a test on Tuesday. Here's how! Click on the picture to the left. You will be on the musicplayonline website. Find the games menu and select "Which Rhythm do you hear?" Select Level 1. There will be three rhythms. Practice reading each of them. Then, click on the "play" button to hear a rhythm. Figure out which of the three rhythms you hear (you can listen more than once!) Click on the red button beside the rhythm you think it is. You will find out if you are correct! There are 10 rhythms. When you are done, go back to Seesaw and let me know how many you got right!
Hello second graders! Today your job is just to repeat the lesson from September 21 - sing our opening song, and then work on your rhythms. I am having some problems finding your work on SeeSaw - so I would like you to record yourself reading five rhythms again, and show pictures of the cards that you read. If you completed this last time, please read the other 5 rhythms for me!
Hello second graders! We have been practicing reading rhythms that use ta's (quarter notes), and ti-ti's (pairs of eighth notes).
In a bag that you picked up on Friday you will find a pair of rhythm sticks and an envelope with 10 different rhythms in it. Today I would like you to practice saying those rhythms, and then playing them with your sticks. Please choose 5 of the rhythms that you are best at and record yourself playing them on a video in SeeSaw. Please show me each rhythm before you play it!
If you are not feeling confident about these rhythms, please do your best! If I can see and hear what is hard for you, I can help!
This is the same rhythm work that you did yesterday. If you already did it, the extra practice will be great review!
