Kami

The district provides the premium version of Kami. Kami has a robust reader with a natural-sounding voice and a variety of adjustment options. Kami is well suited to documents that can be uploaded into the program, but will not read websites or text outside of Kami.

Kami can read any text imported directly into the program. All documents imported into Kami are converted to PDFs, including Word Docs, Google Docs, and Google Slides. Kami can even use text recognition to convert scans of paper documents into readable PDFs (shown in the second video below).

Please Note: Documents must be in PDF format to be read by Kami

Ken-Ton students have Kami on their Chrome Books. Open the (LINK) Kami application and then open the file you want read. (see video below if needed)
Click on the Tool Icon in the top bar, near the Share button. The Tool Icon looks like a little suitcare/briefcase
Choose "Run Text Recognition". Once that is completed, your document is ready to be read!
Now Click on "Read Aloud", located on the left hand side tool bar. You can highlight specific things you want read or just click the play button and it will read the whole document.
