This accommodation is intended to help students have text read aloud to them by the computer.
Benefits of Accessing Text to Speech (Computer Reader):
Students can independently determine what they need when taught this skill.
Students can select what they need read and challenge themselves to read words and passages alone, as they are able to.
Students can select what they need repeated. They can also slow down the reader.
Students can go at their own pace, without having to "wait" or feel rushed to stay with a group
Students can access Text to Speech in any setting: home, study hall, etc.
This skill can be transferred to settings post-high school, into college and career settings
