How to Manually Reset Your Active Directory (AD) Password on your Mac Computer
Your Active Directory account is used for computer login, Email, VPN and several other KS applications. In order to strengthen and protect your Active Directory password, KS forces passwords to expire if they have not changed within 90 days.
Password Change Notifications
Email Alert – email reminders will be sent out 14 days prior to your password expiration date. Subsequent daily email reminders will be sent out until your password is changed.
Login Alert – If your password expires, you will receive a Login Alert on your next login to the KS network. Contact the ITD Help Desk to have them reset your password.
To change your Active Directory password, refer to the Complex Password Guidelines and Password Reset Instructions below. If you require further assistance, contact the ITD Help Desk (808-523-6370 or help@ksbe.edu).

You can change your password on your own (manually), as long as it has not expired.
You must be on a KS computer that is connected to the KS network.
Follow These Steps
1. Click on the Apple menu on the upper left-hand corner on your desktop and select System Settings.
2. Select Users & Groups.
3. Click on the i next to your name in the list of users and groups.
4. This window will open. Click on the Change button.
5. Enter your current password in the Old Password section. Enter a new password in the New Password section and re-enter your new password in the Verify section. Click on Change Password.

7. This password change will change your FileVault password as well. After restarting the computer, authenticate to FileVault using the new password.
8. If passwords are changed through the Help Desk (external password change - not on your computer system):
Type in your old password when logging in to the FileVault window for the first time changing your AD password.
Login to the computer with your username and new password.
Once you login to the computer at the login window, the FileVault password will sync to the new one.
A keychain prompt will also appear after logging in to the computer after an external password change.
Select Update Keychain Password in the "The system was unable to unlock your keychain" window.
