Ms. Jo-Lyn Mehau

Junior (Gr11) / Senior (Gr12) Counselor

Aloha Mai Kākou!

I was born and raised in Keaukaha & attended Keaukaha Elementary School, Hilo Intermediate School, and graduated from Hilo High School.  I earn my Bachelors of Arts degree in Communication and Sociology from the University of Hawaii at Hilo.  I continued my education at UHH earning my Teaching Certificate in Secondary Social Studies.  I taught Special Education, Social Studies, and Hawaiian Language at Connections PCS and Ke Ana La'ahana PCS.  I then continued my education at Point Loma Nazerene University in San Diego, California earning my Master of Education, Counseling and Guidance degree.  I returned to Hawai'i after graduate school and was fortunate enough to be the High School Counselor at the Hawaii Academy of Arts & Science in Puna for 3 years.

It is my honor to be here at Kamehameha Schools Hawai'i as a Junior (Grade 11) & Senior (Grade 12) counselor.  It is exciting working with the Kumu, Haumana, & 'Ohana of Kamehameha Schools Hawai'i in perpetuating the legacy of our Princess, Bernice Pauahi. I feel so blessed to be a part of such an amazing community of learning, growing, stewardship and leadership for the Kanaka Maoli.

I am passionate about sharing my pedagogy in counseling - to be my best self to guide others to be their best self - with the Kula Ki'eki'e.  This is going to be an amazing journey of discovery, perseverance, achievement, and success!

Mahalo Nui!
