Maui Strong Fellowship
We are thrilled to introduce the Maui Strong Fellowship, an initiative to engage UHMC students and Maui residents in areas critical to Maui’s long-term care and post-fire recovery.
This fellowship, funded by the Maui Strong Fund of the Hawaiʻi Community Foundation, provides up to $10,000 per year for participants to contribute meaningful, impactful work.
Hulihia fellows will play a crucial role in the long-term revitalization of Lahaina through dedicated research support and innovative project development. Their work will be instrumental in promoting sustainable development and conducting holistic systems analysis to enhance the resilience of our communities.

What's new this year?
This year, fellows are encouraged to design projects aligning with their interests and career goals while advancing Hulihia's mission to Lahaina's recovery.
We are offering three pathways:
Project-Based Research: Investigating key natural, human, or built systems that support Lahaina’s recovery.
Technical Support: Data management and software application to enhance project outcomes.
Marketing & Communications: Developing PR strategies and materials to amplify project impact.
If you or someone you know is passionate about contributing high-quality, impactful work to Maui’s recovery, we encourage you to apply or share this opportunity.
The 2025 Cohort is from Spring 2025 - November 30, 2025.
Applications are open until February 10th, and we welcome creative and thoughtful proposals.
